Formula 1’s great American plan seems to be working wonders right now. The sport’s popularity has never been higher in the States and the fan base is only growing. That being said, F1 is still essentially a European product being marketed to the USA. Naturally, a few things must be changed and a few alliances made to strengthen F1’s stronghold over the American market. And with Lewis Hamilton on their side, this shouldn’t be an issue exactly.
That being said, fans on Twitter have been cracking their heads over what F1 can do to make their sport more tuned to the audiences across the pond. Even though F1 boasts of a mega three US Grands Prix this year, fans still want to see more all-American collaborations in the future. This was sparked by a genius Tweet by Business Insider’s Editor, Alanis King.

She went on to write, “F1 will never be truly Americanized until I see Lewis Hamilton in a Buc-ee’s.” Her suggestion, rather demand, to pair the 7x champion with the American country store giants, one of America’s most iconic establishments, prompted fans to react and share demands of their own!

As soon as King’s tweet went viral, fans rushed to the social media website to share their reactions and their own suggestions. One fan even commented, “Oh yes! When F1 goes to COTA in the Fall, take Lewis to a Buc-ee’s!”
Let’s take a look at just a few of the fan reactions from King’s viral tweet.

That wasn’t all though. Hamilton isn’t the only driver or entity within the sport that has a massive reach. If Americanization of the sport is the goal, then the fans put on their thinking hats as they logged into Twitter. What emerged was a plethora of great ideas the fans had to aid F1’s push into breaking into America!
F1 will never be truly Americanized until I see Valtteri Bottas crushing a six-pack of Busch.

Do you think needs to do something about Americanizing themselves? Or will the simple old European charm the sport has be enough to engage and maintain their stronghold in the States?
