"Is Pierre Gasly justified in his outburst against Esteban Ocon, or is he overreacting?"

Amidst the multiple collisions and penalties, the Austrian GP turned out to be one of the most intense races so far. The high drama for the top ten pinned the audience to their seats. But right below the grid, the action kept escalating. First, the two Haas drivers went all out, and then Fernando Alonso’s car pushed Zhou Guanyo off the track. However, Spielberg witnessed yet another clash of the Alpines.

The fight for eighth place was going strong between Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon. Both the drivers seem to have a point to prove. They held a “Alpine is still very much in the race,” attitude. This is when a collision happened. Not having enough space to pass, Esteban Ocon, squeezed Gasly to his left and off the track.

The incident enraged Gasly who was heard blaring on the radio, “What the f**k. What was that? Why did he just run me off the track,” Gasly further complained to Bruno Famin, “He just pushed me off track.” As it seems neither of the French drivers wanted to give away, especially Ocon.

Yet another heated situation in the French squad. Team boss Bruno Famin might have to step in after the race once again. Meanwhile, despite overtaking his teammate, Esteban Ocon couldn’t keep the P8 for long. In the upcoming few laps, Pierre Gasly overtook his partner. While making his move, Gasly said “Ciao” on the team radio. What a cheeky sneer!

After today’s collision incident, there is no prospect of a relationship mending between Ocon and Gasly. While some fans have commented on Gasly’s ‘always complaining’ approach, one cannot deny that this incident could directly affect Esteban Ocon’s already uncertain future further.

As the rumors suggest, the two Frenchmen aren’t very fond of each other. Despite being teammates, they’ve been unable to build a relationship. The lack of camaraderie often shows on the track. With unrest building up now and then, Gasly might now feel ‘relieved’. Why though? Well, that is because Alpine is removing Ocon from his seat. Meanwhile, Pierre Gasly signed a multi-year contract with the team.

The tension between the two Alpine drivers is palpable. Frequent outbursts of displeasure have been observed by the fans. The pinnacle of this saga was at the Monaco Grand Prix earlier this year, the same race that led to Ocon losing his seat.

Both drivers have shown their driving skills from time to time, but it seems Ocon has made more mistakes than Gasly which is why the probable exit looms. What would be the repercussions of today’s collision? Ocon could be in a much greater trouble. As previously speculated, he could be removed in the middle of the ongoing season. If this happens, his prospects will become much more uncertain than what they look like now.
