Carlos Sainz joined Ferrari at the start of this season, replacing four-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel. In his first season, the Spaniard was quite impressive as he bagged four podiums. resulting in him finishing fifth in the driver’s standings with 164.5 points.

However, his contract expires at the end of next season, but there have been talks that Sainz will get a contract extension from the Maranello-based team.

The Spanish driver joined the Italian team earlier this year and exceeded expectations. However, his deal expires in 2022, unlike his teammate, Charles Leclerc who has a deal till the end of 2024.

What does this mean for Mick Schumacher?

Mick Schumacher is part of the prestigious Ferrari driver academy and is likely to drive for the Italian team in the future. As of now, the German driver finds himself at Haas and has a contract with the American-owned team till the end of 2022.

With Sainz reportedly putting pen to paper on a new deal with the Maranello-based team, and Leclerc having a contract that sees him at Ferrari till the end of 2024, this could hamper the chances of Schumacher Jr driving for the Italian team.

A probable timeline for the German driver would be the 2025 season. However, nothing is guaranteed in the world of Formula One, and we could see a Schumacher back in a Ferrari sooner than expected.
