There are certain words, certain phrases, and certain names that immediately invoke a feeling of greatness, of quality, and of success. In Formula 1, arguably the only such phenomenon is that of Scuderia Ferrari.

And its fans, the Tifosi, were delighted by the automobile giant when they introduced a slogan in 2019; the proud slogan donned by the SF90 and its fans ever since – #EssereFerrari.

But what does the slogan even mean?

Well, its rough translation in English really captures the reason why the Italian company is so widely and so loyally followed.

‘Essere Ferrari’ translates to ‘Being Ferrari’ or the ‘Spirit of Ferrari.’

According to chairman John Elkann, the slogan represents “the pride of a team capable of bringing together the best of Italy, as well as creativity, enterprise, ingenuity and heart.”

And team principal Mattia Binotto defines ‘Essere Ferrari’ as “having the courage to compete, as well as integrity, passion and determination. It’s a mission statement that furthers Enzo Ferrari’s dream.”

Because for the team with the Prancing Horse, ever since its inception by its visionary founder, through the days it was an icon, to the days it wasn’t; to the time it went through revivals, to when it conquered the world; and even when it fell down from the top, the core values, the style and the identity can simply be defined in one word – winning.
