Haas’ dream weekend ended with heartbreak as Daniel Ricciardo took Kevin Magnussen out in the first lap. Magnussen, who against all odds secured the pole position in qualifying, started in P8 after the sprint. However, the joy was short-lived as the Dane bowed out after an incident with Ricciardo in turn 9 of the first lap.

The turn 9 incident played a spoilsport for Haas as they looked to gain some points with both drivers. Mick Schumacher started out in P12 after an impressive sprint qualifying. Surprising everyone, the German took the position despite starting from the back of the grid. However Magnussen’s race is over, and fans are furious with Daniel Ricciardo.

Some fans felt bad for Kevin Magnussen, who was having a great weekend so far.

Some fans pointed out how Ricciardo had a taste of instant karma as a spinning Magnussen took him out as well.

As Magnussen is out of the race, the responsibility of delivering the points for the team now goes to Mick Schumacher.

A chance for Mick Schumacher to shine

Mick Schumacher had a blistering sprint race on Saturday. Schumacher Jr. started out from the back of the grid but finished P12 as the chequered flag came down.

The junior Haas driver shrugged off engine issues and displayed a stunning drive. Talking post-sprint race, he said, “We had a good opening lap which definitely helped bring us into position.” 

Schumacher continued, But then we ended up having a small issue with the engine. So, it would be interesting to see what is it exactly. But yeah, we’ll find out how much pace we lost through it.”

This is not just a golden chance for Mick to score some points, but also impress Haas management, as the 2023 lineup is still not decided. If he happens to win some crucial points for the team today, the consensus might just tip in his favor. It is pertinent to mention Nico Hulkenberg is in the hunt to replace Mick in 2023.
