Right before the big last race, the seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, set up a dinner to honor and bid the legendary champion, Sebastian Vettel, a heartfelt farewell. He invited all the F1 drivers, and the 20 men got together to share a meal and celebrate the German’s journey in the F1 world.

As Alex Albon delved into a conversation about all things F1 with the former F1 world champion, Damon Hill, they discussed the big dinner and how things went down that night for the drivers. There were also spiraling rumors about the big dinner bill amount being a whooping $140K. So Damon Hill got right on it and asked Albon what the truth was.

Albon said, “The dinner, truthfully speaking, was really special. It was a lot of fun. I think every driver, myself, my cheeks were aching just smiling and laughing the whole time so it was really good.”

When asked to further share the details of the dinner, Albon said, “I feel like I’ll get in trouble to say who did what. That was a strict policy of the dinner itself. We can’t say what happened. There was some very good stories being told.”

Damon nudged at the question if the dinner bill was a $140K and Albon, without missing a single beat, said, “What a load of rubbish.”

He organized it as well, very nice of him.”

“We ate at Hakkasan.”

When asked for a final time, “Was it [the bill] a $140K?” He said, “No!”

“It’s obviously been a year where we haven’t been competitive. We came out of the blocks in Barcelona and we knew it was going to be a tough year. But we got points, we had some very good races.
