Lando Norris will see a third teammate partner him at McLaren in the span of five years he has been at the team and in Formula 1. Always capturing the spotlight, his equations with his teammates have been the talk of the town on many occasions. From Carlos Sainz to Daniel Ricciardo, the entertainment never stopped at the orange team with Lando Norris in the mix. However, his relationship with his last teammate wasn’t always seen in its truest form.

The fans who were initiated into the sport via Netflix’s drama-filled docuseries, Drive to Survive, had a certain impression of the ex-McLaren duo. The happy bits were left out, and the two were only seen competing with each other. And that has been the understanding of the F1 fans in general. However, Norris believes that there was no love lost between them instead the competitive nature of the sport took over.

As quoted by Motorsport-total.com, Norris said, “Me and Carlos still get along very well, I think everyone had the impression that I and Daniel didn’t understand each other, but that was completely wrong, we’re just very competitive”

He further added, “We wanted to hit each other. Maybe that was the impression we got. But we were guys who always worked very well together as a team. We always liked to help each other, but at the same time we always wanted to hit each other. Like that it’s between drivers. But we were good friends. We laughed a lot together.”

Norris said, “It’s still very early. We’ve only worked together a handful of times and on the same day. But so far, so good. But he’s a nice guy, a very hard worker. I don’t see anyone Reason why we shouldn’t be a good team.”

He further added, “I know what a good driver he is, so I don’t expect it to take long for him to get up to speed. I’m sure there will be times when he drives extremely well and I remember my limits. Hopefully we can use that to our advantage as a team.”
