Remember the 2016 Spanish GP where Nico Rosberg closed the door pushing Lewis Hamilton onto the grass? Both Mercedes’ ended up retiring on Lap 1. The man who won the 2016 Spanish GP had an almost similar moment with his teammate today in Austria. As Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez went neck and neck, Christian Horner gets ready for an uncomfortable conversation. What is Horner going to talk about?
Red Bull locked out the front row for the sprint qualifying session. A spectacle that feels like it was seen many months ago. With the rain hitting the track before the start, intermediates were the choice of tires for everyone. After a decent getaway for both the driver Perez saw the opportunity to overtake Max Verstappen on the exit of Turn 1. However while doing so, Checo didn’t leave any space and pushed his teammate onto the grass. It very well could’ve been curtains for both the Red Bulls.
Regardless, the 25-year-old went on the inside of Perez on the very next corner, ran wide, overtook Checo who lost a place to Nico Hulkenberg because of that. Both drivers did complain on the radio about the other one questioning what was going on. Looks like Christian Horner is going to have a tough debrief on his hands. This problem needs to be sorted. During the post-race radio call, Max Verstappen advised Horner to have a chat about the same.

Christian Horner: As they have said, they have spoken about it. I think Checo had Max unsighted there on the right hand side, so thankfully, they didn't collect each other and a 1-2 is a good result for the team.

What do you think? How stern is Christian Horner going to be in that meeting? It would’ve been a disaster if Perez and Verstappen had collided.
