The German boy wonder has left the sport for good. However, Sebastian Vettel did not leave without fulfilling his potential. Even though the last stint of his career did not go exactly according to plan. However, the German was always an asset to the sport, and Aston Martin’s owner appreciated him for his contribution.

The German could not replicate the Red Bull success graph with Ferrari and Aston Martin. Despite that, Vettel’s presence and his expertise in the paddock were a great asset. Lawrence Stroll, the Aston Martin owner, echoed these emotions during a recent interview.

During an exclusive interview with Maxim Magazine, Jared Stern asked Stroll about Vettel. The question stated, “Do you see Sebastian Vettel’s retirement as a setback or an opportunity?”

To this, he replied, “I want to thank Sebastian from the bottom of my heart for the great work that he has done for Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team over the past year-and-a-half. We made it clear to him that we wanted him to continue with us next year, but in the end, he has done what he feels is right for himself and his family, and of course, we respect that.”

There is nothing but respect for Vettel among his peers and his former teams. We will sorely miss the German around the paddock, and so will Aston Martin.

However, the Silverstone-based outfit has already found a viable replacement, according to Stroll.

Further, the Canadian billionaire spoke about life after Vettel. Aston Martin replaced one world champion with another world champion and Stroll believes Alonso was the “natural” choice.

“It seemed natural therefore to invite Fernando Alonso to be part of the development of a winning team, and we very quickly established in our recent conversations that we have the same ambitions and values, and it was logical and easy to confirm our desire to work together,” he revealed.
