Mick Schumacher has not been having the best of times lately. At least not the way he or his Haas F1 team would have wanted. As F1 moved to Azerbaijan this weekend, the situation hasn’t changed for Schumacher. In a positive development, the German driver has the support of his team principal.

Back-to-back pointless finishes, along with severe crashes kept the German driver far away from the place he would expect. Moreover, the media has been harsh on him lately for not putting up the performances he’s expected to deliver. All these made Guenther Steiner open up on the media criticism, Haas, and Mick Schumacher once and for all and stated that they can sort things on their own and they don’t need any advice.

Talking to Sky Sports Germany, the Haas boss conveyed, “We don’t doubt, but we need success. We have to see that we get points. The camp is being divided from the outside. We want Mick to be successful. How we do it is up to us. We don’t need advice. Dividing the team from the outside isn’t good for Mick.”

“I’m trying to take the pressure off Mick. I need Mick, Mick needs us. And we have to work together. There’s a lot of pressure from outside, every word is reversed. I am who I am and you won’t change me either. The fronts are not hardened. We spoke last week. We speak positively about how to proceed. I don’t need advice on how to proceed.”, the 57-year-old top executive further stated.

What led Mick Schumacher to be at the receiving end of such heavy criticism?

Mick Schumacher is yet to pick up a point for Haas this season. It’s important to note that the Haas driver is yet to pick up a point in his career so far. As the German driver failed to make yet another top-10 finish at Baku on Sunday, his wait for his first point continues for the second straight season.

As compared to Michael Schumacher’s son, Kevin Magnussen has been a much better driver for the American team this season. Magnussen made a magnificent comeback this year and picked up P5 in the very first race of 2022 in Bahrain.

Haas had a strong start to the 2022 season. So far America’s only team has managed to pick 15 points in eight races; all credit goes to the Danish driver. As compared to 2021, Haas has better cars this year. Even with a competitive car this time around, the German driver failed to pick up a point and that’s where all the criticism comes in.
