F1 reportedly has more good news for F1 fans after an exciting 24-race-long calendar. Or should we say bad news, because fans are very unhappy with the latest F1 calendar development? F1 is religiously doubling down on its increasing popularity in the USA and a 4th American race – the Chicago GP is about to be officially announced for 2026.

In February, Fastest Pitstop revealed that a Chicago GP street race was being planned. The names shortlisted were the “North American Grand Prix” or the “Chicago Festival Grand Prix”. Even then, fans reacted horribly to it as America already has 3 races – the Austin GP, the Miami GP, and the Las Vegas GP. In contrast, other locations like Africa, Turkey, and Malaysia have none.

But F1’s American expansion plans continue in full force, nonetheless. “The contract to bring Formula One to Chicago has been signed!” Fastest Pitstop exclusively reported. “While circuit planning remains ongoing, the spot on the calendar for 2026 onwards has been finalized! Event planning is nearing completion, and with Chicago building a new 4 billion dollar stadium, it is expected to bring in more funding. The race is confirmed to be a night race, held right before the Canadian GP. It is expected that F1 in Chicago will be announced within the next few weeks.”

Most F1 fans are irate with this new development. Let us have a look at what they had to say.

F1 lands in hot water as Chicago GP rumors get on fans’ nerves

Two days after the first Chicago GP leak in February, the organizers made a strong statement to pacify fans. They ensured everybody that, unlike the Las Vegas GP, which was slammed for being a “show”, they would prioritize racing over the distractions. It was also revealed that the street track would be “European-esque” in nature. But none of these appeasing attempts could win the racing fans over.

One X user was particularly irate with the announcement of this finalized Chicago GP. They demanded that the F1 chiefs should get back the German GP and the Malaysian GP before penetrating any more into the American market.

Another user echoed the first, mocking F1 for turning themselves into an American-centric sport rather than actually including other countries.

One fan even highlighted the irony of this move as Andretti, an American team, was recently rejected from entering F1, but more circuits continue to be built in the same country.

Another fan sarcastically revealed a revamped all-American race calendar that F1 would announce in 2030, based on their current expansion graph.

One fan even dragged Netflix’s ‘Drive to Survive’ into this conversation. They claimed F1 is only focusing on the tracks that rake in big bucks over ones that promise enthralling races.
