Mercedes are struggling massively since the last year. However, there is something about Australia that gets the best out of them. It certainly is one of those many tracks where Lewis Hamilton has tasted massive success. The Silver Arrows, despite all odds stacked against them, have managed a P2 and P3 finish in Qualifying. And understandably, Lewis fans are up on their feet.

It was not too long ago when George Russell threw in the towel right after the first race, predicting all race wins for Red Bull. Soon after, Hamilton too talked about the RB19 being the fastest car he had ever seen, despite enjoying a long undisputed run for himself. The gloom could be seen in the Mercedes camp, but the Qualifying result from the land down under has given something to rejoice about.

After continuing the underwhelming run in the three practice sessions and the first two qualifying sessions, the Merc duo found pace out of nowhere for their respective final laps. Despite being impeded by Nico Hulkenberg just before going out for his final flying lap of the session, the 7x champ managed to get himself over the start line just in time. What ensued after that was pure magic from him and his teammate.

Russell registered a P2 finish while Lewis finished just behind him. Meanwhile, Red Bull’s Sergio Perez will start from the back of the grid after crashing out of Qualifying in the first session. Lauding the team’s effort, Hamilton on the team radio exclaimed, “Amazing job, lads! What a result! Let’s keep pushing.”

Team boss Toto Wolff replied, “Yea Lewis, good effort from all of us. Coming back, slowly but surely.”

Some fans were unhappy with Hulkenberg delaying Hamilton’s final lap by blocking him. But all’s well that ends well, as they say.

Mercedes’ and Lewis’s fans certainly have gone through a lot in the last two years.
