We live in a time of record-breaking crisis, but it’s also a time of the record-breaking vision. Despite already being a seven-time-world champion, Lewis Hamilton hasn’t been backed as the favorite to get the mythical 8th title. Instead, it is Max Verstappen who has come out on top as the favorite. A former F1 driver reveals why Max is favored.

Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton are arguably two of the greatest and most successful F1 drivers of all time. Both of them are 7-time world champions. The Briton won 6 of his world titles with Mercedes during the Turbo-Hybrid V6 era of Formula 1, where the German automaker dominated the grid. The same was the case with Schumacher, who won 5 of his 7 World titles with the Ferrari during the V10 era of F1 during the early 2000s.

The similarities between Schumacher’s and Hamilton’s dominance over the two different eras are uncanny. Two major reasons were that their cars had a competitive edge over the whole grid and that both of them were at the peak of their performance. However, instead of supporting Hamilton for breaking Schumacher’s record of 7 championships, Felipe Massa has backed Max Verstappen. The dutchman with his Red Bull has been miles ahead of the Grid in this ground-effect era of F1. Massa believes both Red Bull and Verstappen can dominate this era like Lewis and Michael did in theirs.

According to motorsport-total.com, Felipe Massa during an interview with Bild said “But you can also win four, five or six titles at a time,” further adding “Max makes no mistakes, Red Bull works perfectly, the engine is strong. That’s how it was with Michael with Ferrari and Lewis with Mercedes. The prerequisites are optimal for a Red Bull era,”

Winning five more championships to equal Schumacher’s and Hamilton’s records will be difficult for Max, but not entirely impossible. Red Bull has come up with a dominant car this season and is the favorite to win the title.

By the looks of it, it looks like Red Bull has a huge pace advantage over the rest of the grid. The Bulls have won the opening 2 races with a comfortable gap to the rest of the field. The closest competitor looks like Aston Martin, who is at least half a second behind. Eddie Jordan believes this is the most dominant F1 car in a very long time.

According to OLBG, Jordan said, “Tell me who is able, under normal circumstances, to mount a challenge against Red Bull? Looking at the first two races, there is no chance of another team rivaling them, it’s a rollercoaster at the moment. This is the most dominant car that I’ve seen in a very long time.”
