In a recent video released by F1, the drivers revisited their on-track predictions for the 2021 season. The 8-min clip saw a bunch of hilarious reactions and some wild predictions coming true. Mclaren driver Daniel Ricciardo was certainly one of the central figures here.

Many drivers directed a handsome number of predictions towards the Aussie and got quite a few correct as well. Pierre Gasly cheekily predicted a race win for Ricciardo in the 2021 season and that certainly happened. However, his Mclaren teammate Lando Norris got a more hysterical one true.

Daniel Ricciardo at the center of F1 predictions

The Aussie did not have the best of debut seasons with the Surrey-based outfit this year. Apart from a race win at Monza, it was a pretty disappointing year for Ricciardo. He finished 8th in the drivers’ standings with 115 points to his name. The Aussie star will look to find back his rhythm in the upcoming season.

Ricciardo is one of the most loved drivers in the paddock; apart from his fierce driving, he is known for his blithesome and amusing nature. When F1 drivers were asked to revisit their pre-season predictions, the Aussie found a mention in many of them.

Alpha Tauri driver Pierre Gasly rightly predicted a Grand Prix win for Ricciardo, which he achieved in Monza this season. “Daniel Ricciardo will win a race and give some more shoey. I was right with that one,” said Gasly.

Meanwhile, Lando Norris had an amusing prediction for his teammate. “Daniel will start going bald. Is that true? I think that’s true. Well done, Lando!” said the young Brit jokingly.

Ricciardo’s former teammate Sebastian Vettel cheekily predicted more seriousness for the Aussie. Seb also believes he got this one right. “Daniel Ricciardo becomes serious. (his prediction) Fair enough. I think he got a bit more serious, so that was right. Unbelievable.”

Ricciardo looking for further improvement

In a recent interview with Motorsport, the Aussie analyzed his debut season with Mclaren. Ricciardo says that he is not too overwhelmed with the highlights of this season and is looking forward to bettering his performance in 2022.

“Definitely happier with the second half. But there’s still some things to work on, so I’m not like overwhelmed with it.”

“Let’s say I made a step, but clearly I still need to make another one next year to get where I want to be, and probably more on Saturdays just to give me that track position for Sunday and keep me out of a little bit more of a mess,” said Ricciardo as reported by PlanetF1.

“So that’s what I’ll work on,” he added.

The teams have concluded the post-season testing, and Ricciardo would look forward to testing his abilities in the new F1 car for the 2022 season. Where do you think the Aussie will end up in the drivers’ standings next season?
