He was really interested in what we were doing: James Allison on Tom Cruise
In the race debrief, Mercedes Technical Director James Allison revealed the experience of hosting Tom Cruise. “If I’m honest, most of the time I was thinking my son is going to be really pissed off at me,” said James Allison on meeting Tom Cruise.
“He was a charming guest, he was really interested in what we were doing. He wanted to keep a pretty low profile, so he was just listening and talking to us all and was fascinated to be taken around the garage and see the amount of love and care we put in our car,” said Allison.
The actor has previously tested an F1 car in 2011. Tom Cruise as a promotional activity for Mission Impossible:4 tested the 2011 Red Bull car in Los Angeles with David Coulthard.

Naive to think Mercedes can repeat Silverstone performance: Andrew Shovlin
Mercedes Trackside Engineering Director Andrew Shovlin has mentioned that it would be difficult for Mercedes to perform in Hungary as they did in Silverstone. Shovlin mentioned the team expects Red Bull to have a strong outing in Hungary.
“[Silverstone] is one of our best tracks, so it would be naïve for us to think we can go [to Hungary] and expect to carry this performance in,” said Shovlin.

“Red Bull are going to be good at a high-downforce circuit,” he added. “Frankly, they’re good at every circuit at the moment and they’re going to be a bit bruised after the experience [in the British Grand Prix], so I’m sure they’re going to come back really strong,” said Shovlin.
