Susie and Toto Wolff are what you call the power couple of motor sport. The pair have been spotted together in the Mercedes garage ever since Toto made him move from Williams to the Silver Arrows. Notably, Susie is one of the very few women to have driven an F1 car.

Like her husband, she is currently a team principal. Susie heads the Formula E outfit Venturi Racing since 2018, and under her spirited leadership, the team achieved its most successful campaign in 2020-21. Although both are certainly ambitious, they have time for each other as shown in a recent interview when Susie was interrupted by Toto’s call.

Asked about how the discussions are at home regarding Formula E and F1, she said, “Yes, I can see the overview, I can see that Formula 1 has a very long history. The best technology in the world, the fastest cars in the world. Top drivers in the world. And on the other hand, I see a lot of positives in Formula E. It’s a different technology.” (Translated using Google)

Toto had probably seen enough and decided to interrupt the interview. As she picked up the call, Susie hilariously said, “You know, your timing is impeccable. The question was, what do I think of Formula 1 against Formula E. Can I call you back in 5 minutes?” she asked.

She further jokingly added, “It’s on silent, but when Toto calls, he always comes through. Because you know the big boss calls, I need to answer. Sorry about that.”

Susie reveals one thing she has learned from Toto Wolff

The pair are both former racing drivers, and now they are team principals as well. They exchanged vows in 2011 and their relationship has been fruitful ever since. Moreover, they are like-minded people in terms of their experience in racing and are always willing to learn from each other.

Speaking on what she learned from her husband, Susie stated, “One of the many things I learned from watching Toto is that as a leader you must be authentic. My husband and I have very different management styles, but I follow his example in staying true to myself.”

They may have different approaches, but success certainly follows them. Under the Austrian’s inspired guidance, Mercedes has dominated the sport for over 7 years. Susie has also guided her team, Venturi, to admirable success in Formula E and will hope to continue doing so.
