Monaco Grand Prix was a brilliant and the masterful display of tactics in Formula One this season. It tested the analytical and strategic acumen of drivers and teams alike in the mixed conditions. Aston Martin driver and 4-time world champion Sebastian Vettel was one driver who showed his wet-weather prowess in the race.

Although he started the race in P9 and finished in P10. He was one of the few drivers who pulled off an overtake in the streets of Monaco on Sunday. But seemed to miss the attention of everyone, including Jolyon Palmer.
Former F1 driver ignores the Sebastian Vettel overtake in his Monaco analysis
Palmer, who was doing his race analysis for F1.com, mentioned that other than Pierre Gasly, no other driver really made an overtake in the race. Gasly and Vettel were one of the first drivers to switch to intermediate tires from wet tires.
While Pierre’s overtakes did get broadcasted, the Aston Martin driver’s amazing overtake on Zhou missed the attention of everyone.

“Gasly made progress, people wanted it, and they did it. Other drivers that put on Inters didn’t pass. Gasly made a couple of moves, and that was kind of it. Vettel never made it past Zhou. You had Hamilton pitting and getting stuck behind Ocon and not making it through,” said Palmer in his analysis.

Vettel, on the other hand, was really happy that he did not go from Monaco empty-handed. He scored the solitary point for his team in the changing conditions.

The four-time world champion executed a very aggressive strategy very well to finish P10 and take an important point for the team. Seb hailed the recovery and admitted that he faced some issues during the race.
“Basically, we don’t go back empty-handed, so I guess it was a decent recovery. We had some issues at the beginning of the race, I had an excursion on the first corner, really struggling on the extreme wets and after that, we tried to do what we can and we’re happy to score a point in the end, but I was hoping that we can maybe extract a bit more,” said the four-time world champion.

It would have been interesting to have seen all the overtakes made in the race on the broadcast. But with the overtake on the Alfa Romeo, Sebastian showed he has lost none of his wet weather driving skills.
