Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel are two of the fiercest rivals in Formula One. The rivalry has continued in 2021 as well, as seen in the recent race at Imola. The four-time world champion did a brilliant overtake on Alonso around the Italian circuit.
However, it wasn’t Sebastian’s day as he had to retire from the race due to gearbox issues. The Spaniard, on the other hand, crossed the line in 10th place and scored a single point for the French team at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

When he was fighting Alonso for 10th place at Imola, Vettel overtook the Spaniard in spectacular fashion. But in the end, the Alpine driver regained his position when Seb was called back into the pits and asked to retire his car.
Much to his fans and his own disappointment, Vettel’s start with Aston Martin has been quite a nightmare. While he was expected to move on from his spell of bad form with his new team, he could only muster up a 15th-place finish in his first race for the Silverstone-based team. Then, in the second race, he failed to even cross the checkered flag, although that was out of his control.
The German feels the team needs to do a lot better
The four-time world champion was facing problems with his car even before the lights went out. His brakes were overheating, which resulted in him being forced to start from the pit lane.
In the post-race interview, Vettel said, “I think we could have had a better race if the FIA was more alert. We broke a rule, I guess, that’s why we got a penalty, but they didn’t bother [to penalise us] until way into the race.
“So by that time obviously, the penalty cost us a lot more than it would have earlier in the race. So that’s not very professional, but it certainly wasn’t the decider for us today we had plenty of issues.”

He continued, “So, not the trouble-free race that we were hoping for [it was a] tough day.”
The German champion will look forward to the upcoming race in Portugal, where he will aim for a better result.
