“I thought maybe we could have battled with Hamilton,” he added. “Well done on the pitstop, that was really good.”
The engineer also echoed the German’s sentiment as it was a strong weekend for the Silverstone-based outfit. Vettel then went on to ask about the finishing order. He got curious about his German compatriot, Mick Schumacher, and inquired about his former team, Ferrari.

“We have been pushing the limits of this car, and it is starting to pay off for us now. Today, we were faster than Alfa Romeo and matched Alpine and Alpha Tauri, and that changes the game for us a little bit. The team did an amazing pit-stop, which enabled me to jump Lewis [Hamilton].”
He further added about racing with Esteban Ocon. On lap thirteen, Vettel tried getting past the Frenchman on a long straight. However, his left front tire locked up and he had to take to the escape road in order to avoid any damage. A brilliant 180-degree turn saw him immediately rejoin the race behind AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda.
