Sebastian Vettel teamed up with his friend and fellow F1 driver Mick Schumacher for Germany in the Nations Cup team competition. The event was held in the northern territory of Pitea on the shores of the Baltic Sea.
In an eventful final round, Sebastian Vettel lost out on the title to 9-time world rally champion Sebastien Loeb, who became a 4 time ROC champion. Loeb was leading the final with a 2-0 lead when Vettel forced a decider by winning a close third round. However, Vettel had to cede his ground to the Frenchman as he closed the round with a lap advantage of eight-tenths of a second.

While walking to the track ahead of the final, Vettel cheekily remarked to fellow Loeb saying, “May the best Seb win“. In another instance, Vettel gave some fun snippets to his fans in a major throwback moment during a press conference on Saturday. Vettel took the 2015 ROC crown in the individual event and spilled a significant memory associated with it.

Vettel was the biggest superstar in F1 in that era of his sheer dominance. After winning 4 back-to-back titles from 2010 to 2013, he added another trophy in his cabinet in 2015, as he won the ROC’s individual event. However, that didn’t come easy for the German. In a press conference during the 2022 edition of Race of Champions, a journalist asked Vettel his best ROC highlight, as he might have many over the years.

“Well, I won the individual one in 2015, so that was really nice. Especially it was very surprising because the night before I got drunk completely. That year I think I gave up on individual in terms of going to sleep early and having proper preparation,” said Vettel.
“I’m not sure how much I remember of the night but in the morning I felt okay. I got in the car and it got better throughout the competition I guess. Yeah, it was a relaxing way to start a competition. It was surely a highlight,” he added chuckling.
