The French GP marks the home race of Alpha Tauri driver, Pierre Gasly. The Frenchman will be looking for a great showing in front of his home crowd in an underwhelming season so far. However, his weekend at Circuit Paul Ricard has not gotten off to a perfect start.

The first practice session saw Gasly marred by an engine problem that limited his running. Even later in the session, Gasly could be heard on the radio, “Check if everything is okay with the car because the rear broke out.”
However, FP2 was another scary affair that left Gasly seething. The driver had his lap disrupted by a Williams, which then saw him lose his cool and rant on the radio. He burst out, “Who the f*ck was that idiot? Is this his first day racing or something?”

However, despite the scare, he finished the session in P7 indicating that a strong point’s finish for the AlphaTauri pilot.
Pierre Gasly thrilled over Alpha Tauri upgrades that will debut at his home race

Pierre Gasly and Alpha Tauri have had a tough season so far, marred with misfortune and some lack of pace. However, they are set to debut upgrades at the French GP to put them back in the fight for points. They currently sit P8 in the constructor’s standings and would like to move up a little higher. One person who is especially thrilled about the upgrades is the Frenchman himself.
The Frenchman wants all the performance he can get to deliver a good showing at his home race this weekend. Speaking on the upgrades Gasly said, “They are mainly on the aero side, and they should deliver a real step up in performance, so I’m keen to try them out at Ricard, in the hope that they can put us back in the fight for points.”

So far after the first day of the weekend, the chances of points look good. Gasly finished P7 in FP2 while his teammate Yuki Tsunoda was further down the road in P14.
