When Daniel Ricciardo joined McLaren this season, fans were excited for several reasons. One of those reasons was the relationship which many expected him to have with his new teammate, Lando Norris. Prior to 2021, the duo shared the occasional laugh, the most famous of which occurred in the pre-race press conference at the 2019 British Grand Prix.

Since making his debut in 2019, Norris shared an extremely close bond with Carlos Sainz at McLaren. Although the latter left for Ferrari this season, it seems the Briton gets along with Ricciardo quite well. Earlier today, McLaren shared a video of the pair engaging in more banter while taking up a challenge.

Recently, the duo played a game of table tennis, which McLaren shared a video of today. They played three rounds of the game, with each round being a race to five points. Before playing, they decided on the forfeit for the loser of each round.

One of those forfeits involved the winner flicking the loser’s ear, which would happen after the first round. Although Ricciardo gained a 3-2 lead, he lost the round due to three errors on his part. Prior to Norris flicking the back of his ear, the Honey Badger pleaded with his teammate not to inflict a lot of pain.

However, after Norris flicked his teammate’s ear, Ricciardo gave a different reaction. He said“Oh, that was cute! That’s more arousing than anything!”

This match also led to the infamous tweet which Norris sent through Ricciardo’s Twitter account a few weeks back.

Can Ricciardo and Norris strengthen McLaren’s advantage over Ferrari this weekend?

Despite McLaren’s recent form, qualifying in Turkey didn’t quite go according to plan for the British outfit. Although he will serve an engine penalty in tomorrow’s race, Sainz ensured Ricciardo missed out on Q2 by finishing the session in P15.

Meanwhile, Norris will start from P7 tomorrow since Lewis Hamilton, who set the fastest time in Q3, will serve a 10-place grid penalty. While they may have the pace, Charles Leclerc starting from P3 might hurt McLaren’s chances in Istanbul tomorrow. However, they often come up with clever race strategies on race days, which could make Sunday’s race all the more exciting.
