A part of F1’s famous ‘Twitch Quartet,’ Lando Norris is quite popular on Twitch. With over 900,000 followers, the Briton is quite active on the streaming platform, using it to interact with his fans and stream various online games from time to time.
Ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the McLaren driver streamed the new F1 2021 video game for the very first time. Here’s what the Briton experienced during his race weekend in Baku.

To make his fans happy, he set the AI difficulty to maximum and fiddled a bit with the car set-up. And ahead of the race weekend in Azerbaijan, he chose the Baku City Circuit as the track to race on. Although the practice sessions and qualifying sessions had dry weather, the race day had wet weather.
Norris was not happy with the weather on race day, and he struggled throughout. To add to his woes, he crashed into his teammate, Daniel Ricciardo, heading into Turn 3 of the five-lap race. Norris’ reaction, although simple, was quite loud. The Briton yelled, “NO! Daniel, I’m sorry!”
He summarised his experience of the video game after being unable to complete his virtual race. “I’ve given you the full experience of F1 2021. It’s cruel,” said the Briton.
“The dry laps, I’m not gonna lie, the dry laps, they were very fun. But the wet, whole different story. It’s very tough.”

Although he qualified P6 yesterday, Norris will start today’s race from P9. This is because of a three-place grid penalty he got from the stewards after qualifying, owing to red flag infringements.
After his disastrous race in the video game, the Briton hopes that his race today doesn’t go the same way. “I didn’t even finish the race, but I’ve got my flight to Baku very shortly. I’ll be hoping to not repeat any of what just happened in the race,” said Norris.

While the “Land of Fire” is known to be unpredictable, Norris will look to steer clear of trouble and bring big points for McLaren. With their midfield rivals Ferrari far ahead this weekend, McLaren need a strong performance today to stay within, if not ahead, of the Italian outfit in the battle for third.
