Mick Schumacher stunned the fans as his name jumped far from the elimination zone at the end of Q3 in Istanbul. Making his second Q2 appearance, Schumacher will start the Turkish GP 14th on the grid. Obviously, the young German was exhilarated after crossing the checkered flag and advancing to Q2, as heard on his team radio.
Getting out of the Q3 rut was a big move for Mick and Haas, who had once again made it to unfamiliar territory. The joy was obvious when Mick roared with joy in the cockpit and the Haas team cheered on in the background of his team radio.

As Mick celebrates his best qualifying result, it will be important for him to hold on to the position. Schumacher’s best race finish was P12 in Hungary after a majority of the grid was knocked off. Now, with some heavy-hitters on his rear wing, it is Mick’s time to shine.
Mick Schumacher wanted more from Q2
Having enjoyed his time on the slippery track, Schumacher’s skills and the team’s strategy helped him through to Q2.
“I enjoyed it and kind of just did what I do best, and that’s drive. I think we, as a team, took the right decisions at the right times. We analyzed it properly, we went through all the steps that we usually do, and we seem to have found the right setup for the right conditions.”
However, Mick believes he could have done better in the session; his lap was aborted after Lance Stroll went off on turn 1. Nonetheless, he doesn’t hold any resentment.
“Those things happen. If you wait for the last lap, those things can happen. I’m just really happy that we managed to get to drive and get to show our performance. I think maybe we even had a tenth or two in there and be closer to George [Russell].”
