The countdown begins as Mercedes is all set to bring the covers off their much-awaited 2022 F1 challenger, the W13. And prior to what is likely to be a glorious launch on February 18, the Brackley outfit is busy ticking off a few chores that need to be done, including a seat fitting session for their new recruit, George Russell.

Quite unexpectedly, during Russell’s seat fitting, Lewis Hamilton decided to mark his presence at the factory. During the latest Mercedes F1 video, one can witness Hamilton engaging in a conversation with his teammate, Russell, while the latter was busy turning the steering wheel.

After uploading the video on Twitter, Mercedes further replied to their own tweet. “Oh wait, Lewis is in this?” the reply read. Quite interestingly, this is the first time since the heartbreaking 2021 Abu Dhabi GP that the fans got to witness the seven-time world champion at the Mercedes factory.

A few days ago, Mercedes did hype up the return of Hamilton with an interesting social media post. The caption read, “44 is back.” In a follow-up post, Mercedes also hailed the fact that 2022 will mark Hamilton’s 16th Formula One season.

George Russell’s seat-fit successful?

Prior to the seat fitting, Russell did keep his fingers crossed hoping that he fits perfectly into the seat. “Hey, guys! It’s late, it’s a big day sitting in the W13  for the very first time in my brand new seat. So, fingers crossed I fit snug as a bug in a rug which is the plan, and get them ready to drive the car for the first time at Silverstone,” he said.
