The result in Canada would have satisfied team Mercedes. However, they perhaps had an unwanted visitor in their garage in Montreal. Haas’ Mick Schumacher entered the Silver Arrows’ area as Toto Wolff and his crew gave a bemused reaction.

As the team was looking at the data and planning strategies, Schumacher wrongly walked into the Mercedes garage, instead of Haas. He was in a rush by the looks of it, but it certainly did not impress Toto Wolff, who gave his typical stern look at the camera.

Well, Mercedes has let a Schumacher in the garage a decade back. So, they are probably used to it by now. Mick’s father and the legendary F1 driver, Michael Schumacher, raced for the Silver Arrows from 2010 to 2012 and retired following this spell.

He set the tone for the Mercedes domination in the following years. However, his son’s F1 career has not started the way he would have expected. Mick is currently only one of the two drivers yet to score a point in 2022.

In Canada, he qualified in P6 and was on course for his first points finish in F1. However, a mechanical issue forced Schumacher Jr. to retire. It looks like the luck is not on his side at the moment, but he will hope to improve with 13 races remaining.

Meanwhile, Mercedes gathered crucial points in Canada. Securing 27 points has closed the gap between them and the top two as they hope to carry this strong momentum.

Schumacher Jr. had an impressive qualifying session in the rain. The Haas driver qualified 6th which let him lock out the 3rd row with his teammate Magnussen in P5. However, his race did not go according to plan.

He was pushed back in the early laps and when Yuki Tsunoda overtook him, the VF-22 suffered a mechanical issue. So, his wait for points continues but he believes he will eventually end up in the top 10.

Speaking after the race to Motorsport.com, he said, “I’m here because I love the sport and love driving. I want to earn what I’m fighting for but unfortunately we didn’t deserve it today. But I’m sure there will be more opportunities to come. At some point the tide will turn.”
