McLaren unveiled their 2022 F1 challenger, the MCL36, last week at their own headquarters in Woking. The car looked aggressive with the return of Gulf Blue color on the livery for the first time since the special livery over the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix. And the optimism of the team is on a whole new level, with many reckoning McLaren to be one of the championship contenders this year.

Hence, from such a crucial launch event, here are some of the behind-the-scenes featuring the two drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris. After a tiring launch, Ricciardo and Norris engage in hilarious banter from within the same room.

We’re ready to just call it a day. I’m already just gonna call it now,” the Australian said before picking up his phone and calling Norris. With the phone over his ear, he added, ” Yeah, I’ve been thinking… I was just thinking of a day. Do you think we should just call it a day?

Norris replied with a chuckle, “Is that Daniel? You’re gonna call it now?” Then began the amusingly peaceful argument between the pair. “Yeah, I think so! It just sounds right, has a ring to it,” Ricciardo said.

Well, I’m leaving. I’ve called it a day already,” Norris said, as he continued to avoid Ricciardo’s suggestion.

However, the Honey Badger wasn’t giving up that easily as he replied. “Look, we’re literally calling it a day as we speak.

McLaren F1 pair troll each other

Norris had his feet resting on the table as Ricciardo continued to suggest they should call it a day. “I mean, feet on the table… We should call it a day!” he said. “We have to call it a day now. Look we can’t… There is a hygiene risk.

The young Briton then took a dig at his teammate’s shoey celebration. “You’re complaining of this? There’s no hygiene here compared to drinking from his shoe where his foot has been,” he said.

That’s beautiful! We should call it a day though,” Ricciardo replied. Norris soon deviated from the topic and rather began talking about flowers on the table. “I like these Sunflowers, flower things in the middle of the table,” the one-time pole-sitter said.

That one’s dead though. That’s called it a day already,” Ricciardo added before Norris trolled himself by bringing up his painful race at Sochi last year. “Oh no! That’s like me after Russia,” he concluded. Overall, Ricciardo and Norris are finally starting to get comfortable around each other after a rather quiet 2021 season.
