Returning after two months, F1 teams had a productive outing at Circuit de Barcelona for the pre-season testing. Formula 1 is entering a new era with a major overhaul in rules, the biggest one since 1983. Naturally, fans were excited to see their favorite drivers back on the track. Like others, McLaren F1 driver duo Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo also took the wheel of the all-new MCL36. Many insiders expect top midfield teams like McLaren and Ferrari to run for the top spot.
Though the pre-season tests were not televised, fans were eagerly following updates from the track. Lando Norris pipped others to finish at the top on day 1 of the testing. The primary aim of all the teams was to get mileage under their belt in these new-generation cars. The duo combined to log 365 laps together over the course of three days. On the last day, many said that normality got restored as Mercedes claimed the 1-2 spot, after a tough day two for Lewis Hamilton.
Though Alfa Romeo and Haas had a sticky start, other teams returned happily to the paddock. Meanwhile, after wrapping up the session, Ricciardo and Norris found some time to chit-chat with their fans through a video message. The two stars seemed satisfied with the initial results and look forward to taking it to the next level in Bahrain next month. Find the video below.

“It’s been a good week and start to the year. Many things have gone well. Of course, a couple of problems here and there but we’ve got through a lot of our test programs, and we’ve understood the car more,” said Norris after day 3.
“I think we’re in a good spot, but there’s always something to work on and improve. So, we’ll give the team some data to work with and some areas of work to do, I’ll focus on what I can keep doing better. Overall, a pretty flawless three days for the team, a really awesome start to the season,” told Ricciardo.
