Two of the biggest names to come out of Britain in Formula 1 are Lewis Hamilton and Sir Frank Williams. Unfortunately, we lost the legendary team owner yesterday at 79. And a video from a few years ago comes to mind in which Sir Frank Williams is taken out for some fast laps by his compatriot, Hamilton.
The Mercedes driver drove around the Silverstone circuit in a Mercedes accompanying the legendary icon.
“I’m expecting great things,” says Williams at the beginning.

And great things followed, but it was preceded by a moment of laughter. Frank Williams’ daughter, Claire Williams, joked that her father had two laps to convince Hamilton to join Williams.
“You must be bored of winning now, Lewis, so you come and see what you can do in our car.”
In this memorable video, Sir Frank Williams shows his humor by constantly joking about his driver’s style of operating the car.
“I think the car will be glad when you get out of it”, a cheeky remark from which Hamilton got a big laugh.
One thing that everyone can see is Williams‘ love and his passion. His passion for speed, for racing, and for F1, visible on his face, in his eyes, as he is driven around Silverstone, his home circuit.

Along with the whole F1 community and beyond, the seven-time world champion also paid his respects to the departed legend.
“Sir Frank Williams was one of the kindest people I had the pleasure of meeting in this sport. What he achieved is something truly special. Until his last days I know he remained a racer and a fighter at heart. His legacy will live on forever,” Hamilton posted on his Twitter.

Although so much can be said about Sir Frank Williams’ passion for racing, there’s one instance in the video that sums it up.
Before they head out, the two Britons are instructed to come in after just one lap. And as the lap ends, Hamilton asks Williams, “Shall we do one more?”
