Despite an illustrious career, Lewis Hamilton has had a few incidents he would like to forget. The frequency of such incidents has been rather high at the beginning of the current season. However, every driver, even Lewis Hamilton, must face the music and push past such awkward moments.

This particular incident might not be fresh in Hamilton’s memory, but as the modern saying goes, “the internet never forgets”. The British world champion was still a two-time championship back then. And unfortunately, a large group of people were involved in giving this incident the ‘cringeworthy’ tag it holds on the internet.

At the 2015 Brit awards Hamilton, accompanied, singer-songwriter, Ellie Goulding on the stage to present the award for the Best International Female Solo Artist. The series of on-stage awkward exchanges led to a cringeworthy moment. You can be the judge of the most awkward exchange in the entire scenario.

Hamilton asked the crowd: “How you guys doing? You good?” [loud cheers]

Lewis: “A bit louder, no? No?” [soft cheers]

Goulding: “Sorry I have to hold myself, I can’t stand properly” 

Hamilton: “The dress, you going to a wedding or something?” 

Goulding: “Ah, excuse me? Yeah, ours!” [awkward laughter] “It was a good one”

Hamilton: “No!”

The awkward exchange between Hamilton and the crowd and Ellie Goulding made for some uncomfortable viewing. However, the two celebrities pushed past the awkwardness and got to business.

Hamilton did not attend the 2021 FIA gala. However, the 2015 Brit awards had nothing to do with it. Or did they?

Attendance to the gala is mandatory for the top three and we all know Hamilton came in second at the very last lap of the season. The absenteeism earned the Mercedes man a fine of $51,000.

However, Hamilton disclosed a deal he struck with the FIA president Ben Sulayem. He revealed, “There will be some sort of fine regarding the gala but we’ve worked together to make sure the money will be put towards youth from under-privileged backgrounds getting into motorsport.”
