A dejected, devastated and despondent Lewis Hamilton chose to remain silent to send the loudest message to his team and fans in Italy. The Mercedes driver’s absolute silence post sprint race said it all as Hamilton continues to struggle in 2022. An already underperforming Hamilton has further gone down in Italy, leaving his fans and well-wishers in awe.

The recently concluded Imola Grand Prix sprint race couldn’t fetch the Mercedes maestro any better position. Lewis further slumped to P14 after starting from P13 from the grid today. As Hamilton crossed the finish line, his race engineer Peter Bonnington conveyed the message on the radio.

Lewis, however, chose to remain silent. This is quite uncharacteristic of the seven-time world champion. F1 fans are quite aware of how the Briton shows his excitement post chequered flag both in a positive and negative situation. This indeed was a shocker to his fans and critics alike.

The ever-popular “Get in there Lewis” by Bono, or “Let’s go, Bono” by Hamilton met with the deafening silence on the radio today. The reason? Yet another low start from the grid for the Silver Arrows driver. Moreover, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff got into a bit of altercation with the 2020 champion following the Q3 on Friday.

How bad has the season been for Lewis Hamilton?

The start of the 2022 season hasn’t been great for the Mercedes man. To call it bad, would be much of an understatement as Lewis came in this season to fight for the championship. After the infamous Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2021, Hamilton revealed that he will be fighting for his eighth championship trophy this season.

However, things didn’t work out the way Lewis wanted. Firstly, it is the Mercedes power units that aren’t much help. And secondly, it’s the super-strong Ferraris and Red Bulls that took Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc away from the Briton’s reach.
