One question that seems to not be getting any answers heading into the 2022 Formula 1 season is this – Will Lewis Hamilton be coming back or has he retired after the controversial and heartbreaking race in Abu Dhabi?

For months now, there have been endless reports, opinions, and comments that suggest both possibilities. And if we go by them both, then Hamilton is retiring, but he’s also coming back.

So unless there’s a glitch in the Matrix, only one of those two can exist. And for the fans of the knight, the recent video posted by Mercedes should answer which possibility is remaining, and which is going.

During a promotional video for the Chinese New Year, Lewis Hamilton appeared in full Mercedes clothing that should finally point towards him continuing beyond 2021 in the sport.

“Wish you a happy Chinese New Year. May the new year bring you good luck and everything you wish for,” Hamilton says in the video.

The seven-time world champion was joined by his new teammate, George Russell as well.

“I’d like to wish you a Happy Chinese New Year. I’m happy to join the AMG family, and become part of the world’s fastest family,” the former Williams driver says in the video.

F1 means more to Lewis Hamilton compared to rest according to former teammate

Valtteri Bottas, who joined Alfa Romeo from Mercedes in 2022, described what sets his former teammate apart from rest of his colleagues.

“I think F1 means maybe more to him than to the rest of the drivers right now,” Bottas said. “This year [2021] he was in the simulator almost every week, which he had never done before, always reviewing things, and his commitment is something I can only take my hat off to.”

Someone of the stature of the seven-time world champion, if he leaves the sport in the current circumstances, it will forever taint the sport itself. But hopefully that won’t be the case.
