Lewis Hamilton is one of the most famous sporting personalities in the world. The Briton’s stardom extends far beyond the tracks, with him being offered a role in the latest hit movie Top Gun: Maverick.

Although that prospect couldn’t come to fruition, an old clip has been doing the rounds on the internet that can somewhat make up for it.

The clip is of Hamilton on a flight with the RAF Red Arrows, from his joyride back in 2013.

 

This has led fans to speculate how it would have been to see the 7-time world champion in the movie. Moreover, fans believe that Hamilton would make an excellent Hollywood star.

However, the movie went on without Hamilton as the Briton had to reject the role, but fans love to speculate about what could have been. He opened up about the entire saga in a recent interview.

A while back, the Mercedes driver had a chance to jump in the cockpit of something other than an F1 car when he was offered a role in the hit movie Top Gun’s sequel Top Gun: Maverick.

Speaking about it in a recent interview with Vanity Fair Hamilton said, “When I heard the second one was coming out, I was like, ‘Oh, my God, I have to ask him.”

He further revealed that he requested Tom Cruise, his close friend, “I don’t care what role it is. I’ll even sweep something, be a cleaner in the back.”

Hamilton got more than he bargained for after being offered the role of a pilot!

However, it was not meant to be as he had the 2021 F1 season to concentrate on and would not be able to shoot for the movie.

In the meantime, talking about the call to reject the offer, he said, “the most upsetting call that I think I’ve ever had”.

Fans were extremely disappointed to hear this news. However, Hamilton will soon be taking major strides in his Hollywood adventure. He is one of the producers of an untitled F1 film that will star Brad Pitt.
