He once used to rule the circuit of this iconic race, but a win is hard to come by these days for Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton. Mercedes have won every Japanese GP since 2014, with Lewis winning 4 and Valtteri Bottas winning the last one in 2019. However, this time around, it is not that easy to say that victory will repeat itself.

Despite all of that, Lewis Hamilton has not lost his sense of humor. In a fan event hosted before the Japanese GP, Lewis singled out a suspicious LH fan sitting beside him. In the Twitter video, Hamilton is seen pulling the leg of an LH fan for wearing a rival top.
Hamilton examined the person’s t-shirt and said, “Are you TeamLH? I don’t think your TeamLH you have Honda on your top!”

Honda is a Japanese company and the former engine provider for Red Bull Racing. Red Bull is also Mercedes’ top rival, who is on course to win the Constructor’s championship for the first time in 9 years.

Lewis Hamilton is currently 6th in the driver’s standings. Meanwhile, his teammate George Russell is currently P4. Hamilton hasn’t lost to any of his teammates other than Jenson Button and Nico Rosberg. However, George Russell beating the knight looks like a real possibility this season.
Lewis Hamilton is a worthy leader according to Mike Elliott
Mercedes technical director Mike Elliott was full of praise for their star driver, Lewis Hamilton. Elliott explained how Lewis was helping the team in different ways. He further stated how Mercedes hasn’t given their drivers a competitive car this year.

Mike Elliott said, “I think Lewis pushes the team. I think he does a really good job of giving us feedback. He works really hard. His work ethic has not changed at all this year.”
He added, “He’s here late in the evenings working with us, trying to get the most from the car, and I think that’s just an encouragement to everyone else in the team to see the input he’s putting in.”
