Lewis Hamilton and his former Mercedes teammate, Nico Rosberg, have had one of the fiercest rivalries in Formula 1. Of course, the moment Rosberg announced his retirement after winning the 2016 world championship title, it looked like the heat would subside substantially.
Well, 5 years have passed by, and the relationship between the duo has hardly improved. The Briton is still holding a significant level of shunning for the one-time world champion.

What happened between Lewis Hamilton & Nico Rosberg?
Ever since retiring from F1, Rosberg has been a part of the Sky Sports F1 family, making his presence as a commentator alongside David Croft over the Dutch Grand Prix weekend. The German was also on the grid involved in the pre-race coverage on Sunday afternoon at Zandvoort.
While doing his usual job, he saw Hamilton walking towards him and spoke to the camera, “So, we just got Lewis passing by here now.”

However, while passing Rosberg, Hamilton managed to avoid the German completely by making an awkward dunk away from him and walked away. There was barely any eye contact from the seven-time world champion, and of course, Rosberg did speak of the encounter to the camera.
“Didn’t get much of a reaction. But, that’s… that’s understandable,” Rosberg said. The German was looking keen on having a chat with the Mercedes driver. But Hamilton indirectly showed his disinterest by shunning his former rival.

Will the relationship get any better between the duo?
As of now, the chances are bleak. The Briton is still racing in Formula 1 and will certainly be holding onto the ugly on-track memories starring Rosberg.

What’s more, their rivalry dates back to the karting days. Hence, it looks like Hamilton will continue to avoid Rosberg until the end of his F1 career. But what after that?
