Lewis Hamilton had a miserable season compared to his extremely high standards. The Silver Arrows ace being beaten by his teammate is a rare sight. Only Jenson Button and Nico Rosberg have been able to do that. But, it seems like George Russell might be able to add his name to that elite list too. Mercedes’ prodigy is 27 points ahead of Lewis in the drivers’ championship with just 4 races to go.

In 2016, we saw how Lewis reacted after losing to Nico. But, the response has been more mature this time around. Despite being pitted against each other, Lewis continues to work in tandem to get Mercedes out of this slump.

The Brackley-based outfit has had little to celebrate on the track. However, the mood in the camp continues to be positive. Recently, Lewis and George, along with the rest of the team, were spotted having fun during a bowling session. While it was pretty even-steven on the bowling alley, Lewis Hamilton had the last laugh outside of it.

Russell was brutally roasted by Lewis Hamilton for his poor bowling etiquette. Mercedes’ spearhead was seen face-timing Toto Wolff to mock George’s shoes. Lewis said, “George has come in his own bowling shoes.”

The ship for the 2022 season might have sailed for Mercedes. But, this camaraderie between Lewis and George will increase their chances to bounce back next year.

Toto Wolff pragmatic about Mercedes’ chances for the 2023 season

Mercedes has been the team to beat for the last several years. But, the tide has turned this year with Red Bull dominating the season. Ferrari is currently 2nd in the constructors’ championship, 67 points ahead of Mercedes. This means that the German manufacturer has a mountain to climb.

Toto Wolff, talking about his team fighting for the championship next year, said, “That is the goal also the expectation. But I don’t have the 100% confidence to say here: Next year we will fight for the World Championships.”

We still have work to do. If you want to turn the ship in this industry, it’s a bit like an oil tanker,” emphasized the Austrian.
