The Ferrari drivers seem to have quickly developed a close relationship in their first season together. Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have not only impressed everyone on the track but off the track as well. With half a point differentiating the two drivers in red, Natalie Pinkham asked the two drivers a very knotty question; their reaction to which was surprising.
In the recent episode of the F1 Nation Podcast, Natalie Pinkham shared her experience playing a game with the two Ferrari drivers. She asked the drivers who would finish ahead of whom in the driver’s championship. An answer that took a lot of thought on the drivers’ part; the result was ultimately a sweet moment.

Carlos held up Charles’ face while the Monegasque thought hard at his answer. Carlos even asked, “Can we get equal? Do you have half a point? No, then we cannot get equal.” As Leclerc backed himself up on finishing ahead of Sainz, it thrilled the two drivers to share the same answer.

Pinkham reflected on the moment during the podcast. “It was such a telling moment. Because they both said, Charles. I actually couldn’t believe it when I saw them both high-five each other. I thought Carlos is high-fiving Charles for winning the team battle!”
The two Ferrari drivers have proven to be one of the stronger pairings on the grid. Where the car lacks pace, the drivers make up for it with their teamwork and racecraft. The Prancing Horses may have finally found the perfect fit for their team.
Looking at the Ferrari drivers
Although Sainz is ahead of Leclerc, the Monegasque has a fair chance at overtaking his teammate. While both drivers are almost at par with each other when it comes to racing, Charles has come close to his teammate despite missing out on the Monaco GP.

Where Sainz has taken two podiums, Leclerc has to lead a race and finished second. Both drivers share great caliber in racing on the track, so while it’s sure that they will finish the season very close to each other, nothing is threatening the two drivers.
While other teams have a very telling preference in drivers, it isn’t as vehement at Ferrari. Although Charles has been with the team longer, they know the Chilli only adds to the flavor of the team.

It’s hard to ignore the drivers on the track, but even so off the track. There was no doubt that the C2 duo would get along together, but the level at which they have is impressive. In a way, their off-track chemistry only catalyzes their respect for each other on the track. Looking at the Turkish GP weekend, Sainz came out on the track during Q2 just to give his teammate a much-needed boost to Q1.

It’s not only fun but also fascinating to see the duo thrive; something they will have to only amplify over the next six rounds as Ferrari closes in on McLaren for the coveted P3 position.
