Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris, the two drivers for Mclaren, are in Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix. The pair has a lot to prove at this particular Grand Prix. Mostly because Mclaren has not attained their potential in the first two races and this is Daniel’s home Grand Prix.

However, the pair took some time off to treat the fans with some laughs. The Australian was seen teaching the Brit some Aussie slang. And during the process, Lando made a brilliant remark about Daniel’s wine. Even Ricciardo couldn’t stop himself from laughing!
Daniel Ricciardo teaches some Aussie slangs to Lando Norris
Daniel Ricciardo, apart from being loved all over the world, is especially adored in Australia. So naturally, when Formula 1 returned to Australia, Daniel was everywhere. From track billboards by Heineken to auction houses and even wine launches. Daniel recently, in collaboration with St. Hugo, released a limited edition red wine called DR3 X ST HUGO. And Lando Norris couldn’t stop himself from making fun of the fact.
During the video when the slang “Goon” came up and Daniel asked Lando the meaning, Lando was quick to exclaim “You”. For normal English speakers like you and I, goon holds a certain meaning. But in Australian slang, the term “Goon” has a completely different meaning.
To educate Lando, Daniel continued to explain, “So goon is like cheap wine”. To which Lando quickly replied, “Oh, a bit like your brand?”.

To which Daniel replied, laughing, “That was actually good. I’d give him that, it’s clever!”. Although he was quick to point out it’s not accurate, it was quick-witted.
The pair try a host of Australian slangs throughout the video. But Lando could take a dig at Daniel only that one time. The Mclaren pair have a healthy off-track relationship and they get along well, unlike what we saw in the latest installment of Drive to Survive.

Daniel, a happy go lucky guy!
Daniel Ricciardo holds a reputation for being an easygoing fella. He has maintained a good relationship with Lando Norris. And if you go back a little in the past, a pattern emerges.

Daniel had a good relationship with Nico Hulkenberg as well during his brief stint at Renault. And even after on-track collisions which usually ruin off-track relationships, he has maintained one with Max Verstappen. We often observe the former Red Bull pair catching up before or after races.
This goes to show Daniel is a top lad aside from being a top driver. Let’s hope Mclaren can turn things around and start seeing results soon. Hopefully, starting at the Australian Grand Prix.
