Lando Norris was all set to win the Russian Grand Prix after having defended superbly against the much superior Mercedes car of Lewis Hamilton. But, in the end, his efforts went down the drain as the dynamic weather played spoilsport in the McLaren driver’s victory hopes.

Nevertheless, Norris proved that he is indeed a class act, as the Briton walked all the way from his car to Lewis Hamilton in the parc ferme.

Norris gave the eventual race winner a hug, congratulating him on the race win and of course, the duo exchanged a couple of words before the heartbroken Norris took a long walk back into the paddock. It was certainly quite painful to watch Norris, whose wait for the first F1 race victory goes on.

Contrastingly, Hamilton finally managed to claim his 100th Grand Prix victory after a rather long wait since the Hungarian Grand Prix. And there is quite something with Hamilton creating records under wet conditions.

If you do remember, the Briton claimed his 7th world championship title, sporting a set of inters at Istanbul Park last season.

Halfway into the race, there was an affirmation from the Ferrari garage that ‘light drops of rain’ were imminent. However, as the race proceeded further, the rain threat loomed, and by lap 48, turn 5 was absolutely drenched. The rain kept falling, extending its way onto the entire circuit.

Soon, Hamilton entered the pits for a set of intermediates. The Briton was questioning Mercedes’ tactics before his race engineer acknowledged ‘more rain coming’. And what did McLaren do? They chose to keep Norris out. But, it was one lap too late, as the rain became heavy.

Norris, who was then on a set of dead hard tires, found no grip whatsoever as it looked like his car was literally driving on ice. The Briton almost slid all the way into the barriers but managed to stroll his way into the pits, but not before breaching one of the rules; Crossing the pit-entry line.

Hence, not only did Norris miss out on a win, and a podium, but he could well miss out on points as well. This is the typical synonym of a nightmare. Nonetheless, can Norris bounce back over the upcoming race weekend at Istanbul Park?
