Lewis Hamilton is having a rough season, as he’s struggling with the 2022 Mercedes challenger. So, fans are speculating if the seven-time world champion would leave the Silver Arrows because of his struggles. But they forgot Hamilton was the key figure that helped Mercedes become the successful constructor that dominated F1 for almost a decade.

The Briton became an F1 driver back in 2007 and was driving for McLaren. He won his first world championship the very next season with the Woking base. Fans were expecting great things from Hamilton and McLaren. But then the Brit shocked the world with his move to the lesser-known F1 team Mercedes.

Fans and F1 pundits doubted Lewis’ Mercedes move. But Lewis had confidence in the move and wanted to help the Brackley base become the greatest F1 team, by doing what Michael Schumacher did for Ferrari. Undoubtedly, that move was successful as Hamilton became a seven-time world champion like Schumacher.

After joining Mercedes, Hamilton revealed the reason for his move, “There are just so many good things that the opportunity to go somewhere they are struggling and hope to be part of something that’s gonna become great. Michael did it many years ago with Ferrari and there were no other drivers that did that, really. I wanna do something like that.”

Perfect Mercedes cars ‘spoiled’ Lewis Hamilton?

The German constructors are the eight-time world champions who dominated the sport for the past few seasons with their superior cars. However, that is not the case this season. Mercedes 2022 challenger W13 is suffering from significant porpoising.

The Mercedes duo is having a lot of issues with the car and they are far from the battle at the front. Moreover, Lewis Hamilton is suffering from the W13 more than his new teammate George Russell. The reason might be that Hamilton is not used to driving cars with so many issues while his new teammate previously drove the slow Williams car.

“He [Lewis Hamilton] has only driven perfect cars for the last few years, he’s spoiled,” Former F1 driver Marc Surer also said. “Russell beat the Williams around the track, which was not perfect at all, and has sometimes done miracles with it. Russell is used to driving fast with a bad car. Lewis is no longer used to that.”
