George Russell is happy for Williams and Alex Albon
Australian Grand Prix was a sentimental ride for friends Alex Albon and George Russell. This GP proved to be George’s first podium with Mercedes F1 after bravely defending his position. Albon also started making progress mid-race and dragged his chassis to a last-minute top 10. After facing a terrible qualifying and starting P19, he managed to bring Williams the first points of this season.

Albon, who was disqualified for not having enough fuel in his car, fought very hard. Williams in the top ten is always a surprise and though Russell has managed to do it before, he was both surprised and happy for his former team.
“Albon? wow well done Williams” these were the words that left his mouth as George was headed to present his W13 for P3.

The Briton has stood on a podium once before with Williams. Hence, Russell is no stranger to how difficult it is to drive the Mercedes-powered car. Williams usually stays at the back of the grid and does not present the most competitive front, even in the midfield. Russell, in his time, consistently outpaced his teammate Nicholas Latifi and seems like Albon is on the same route. Moreover, Latifi, who often proves to be the harbinger of crashes, had a terrible qualifying as he crashed with Lance Stroll.
The squad of Alex, Charles Leclerc, George Russell, and Lando Norris is very famous in the paddocks. Three of them have known each other since they were kids, and have been racing alongside each other for the longest time. In fact, the famous trio of Russell, Norris, and Albon competed in Formula 2 together and completed their top 3 in 2018.
