Lewis Hamilton and George Russell have gelled well with each other in the first few races. Both Mercedes drivers are quite complementary to each other and often speak positively towards each other.

They even share a joke or two from time to time and like to keep things calm. Russell has spoken on many occasions about his admiration for the 7-time world champion and his achievements.

At the fan fest in Melbourne before the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday, both Russell and Hamilton were present to interact with fans. The young British driver spoke about his love for Michael Schumacher and called him his idol while also recognizing Lewis’ achievements.

Lewis Hamilton pokes fun at teammate George Russell

While George was speaking about the dominance shown by his Mercedes teammate, he addressed fellow British with respect and called him Mr. Hamilton.

” I followed F1 from a young age. Schumacher was my idol, the guy I looked up to. But then, obviously, Mr. Hamilton came along and took over and started doing the business,” said Russell.

The 7-time world champion was quick to recognize the sign of respect but hilariously poked fun at Russell. The Mercedes driver mentioned that George should address him as ‘Sir’.

” I don’t get referred to Mr. Hamilton too often. I thought you referred to my dad there. It’s Sir actually, so,” said Lewis.

Although he might be on the pace with the front runners Ferrari and Red Bull, he has a chance to finish the best of the rest. He could mount a challenge for the podium if there is some chaos up ahead.

It would be interesting what kind of start the Mercedes driver gets in Melbourne tomorrow. Hamilton cannot get held up in the battle in the midfield and lose time to the front runners. Hopefully, we can see Lewis be more competitive in the race than in the Practice sessions.
