Formula 1 brings out the most competitive side of any driver on the grid. This makes it a rare feat to see a close relationship between two teammates. In fact, your teammate is your biggest rival in this sport as you share the same machinery. Thus, making him your closest performance benchmark. Something similar happened in 2019 with Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc.

However, fast forward to today, they both now share a bond that fans cherish!

The Monegasque replaced the former world champion, Kimi Raikkonen, at the team. On the other hand, The German won the world title 4 years from 2010 to 13 with the Red Bull before jumping ship to Ferrari in 2015. This saw a driver pairing that was at opposite ends of their career timeline in 2019.

The two years they spent together as teammates were unfortunately not the best of the Scuderia Ferrari. 2019 viewed Leclerc outscore the multi-time world champion at a team where he has raced for 5 seasons. The Monegasque stole all the headlines with his exceptional pace.

The 2020 season is where it all got out of the hands of the Ferrari. The team fell down the pecking order with an underperforming race car. Ahead of the Austria GP Sprint, Sebastian Vettel took a team cap from a Ferrari fan. He took it to Leclerc to get it signed by the current star Ferrari driver. The Monegasque was more than content to sign it while his former counterpart held the team wear.
