With just one race left in the 2021 season, the F1 drivers are getting in the spirit of Christmas already. Haas driver Nikita Mazepin got his secret Santa gift recently, and he surely had a cheeky laugh about it. The festivities are around the corner and it’s time to celebrate with a sweet treat, even better if the sweet has an uncanny resemblance with your name.

The F1 drivers will line up on the grid for one last time this season in Abu Dhabi this weekend. However, this is not stopping them from running their creative horses to decide on a suitable gift for their fellow drivers.

Alpine driver Esteban Ocon got Mazepin for secret Santa and he weighed in with a funny yet wholesome gesture for the Russian. Ocon sent him a bunch of “Marzipan” sweet packets for this Christmas and the Haas driver is surely loving it.

Mazepin shared the secret Santa gift he received via his Instagram handle with a message saying, “Thank you secret Santa.”

According to Food and Wine, “Marzipan is essentially a paste of sugar and almonds, has been made in the Middle East and Mediterranean regions for centuries, and is especially prized as a sculptural material.”

Ocon must have thought this through and fans are surely validating his choice this time around. The Haas driver did not have a good rookie season but he would surely love a break from the sport with these sweets around.

Dark Clouds over Haas team before the big race

The 2021 F1 season has been a forgettable one for the Haas team. The two rookie drivers could not open their points tally and consequently, the team sits at the bottom of the constructers’ standings. However, they now have bigger demons to face with an appalling shortage of spare parts in the garage. The two Haas drivers suffered a crash in the Saudi Arabian GP, causing considerable damage to the chassis.

The team has enough resources to field the car for this weekend but they cannot afford another accident in Abu Dhabi. “We have got one race to go, we’ve got enough spares to rebuild the cars, but we don’t have enough spares if we have accidents in Abu Dhabi,” said Guenther Steiner as reported by Motorsport.
