McLaren embraced another strong Formula 1 season; they were the only team to finish 1-2 in a race in 2021, and consequently secured the most points in a single race weekend – 45 points.

A commendable first-half show from Lando Norris, after which Daniel Ricciardo took over the initiative and chipped in with some crucial championship points kept the team in the battle for P3 against Ferrari. Yes, they did lose it in the end.

Norris secured his highest-ever finish in the F1 driver’s championship -P6. Overall, a season of accomplishments for the British outfit. So, as a wrap-up, both Norris and Ricciardo offered the McLaren fans a thank you note through a video clip.

Unsurprisingly, neither of the drivers managed to keep the message formal, and rather kicked off banter amongst themselves.

McLaren duo Daniel Ricciardo & Lando Norris engage in a banter

We’ve missed this all year. With both drivers racing hard for positions, there just was no time for quips; but now, with the season all over, we are finally starting to see the lighter side of the duo. It all started with Ricciardo reckoning he had a joyful season with his new team and teammate.

“It’s been busy but it’s been fun. I think we’ve enjoyed the first year together,” the Honey Badger said. Norris subsequently questioned, “You did?”

No, I did. I was just questioning your…” Norris responded. Then arrived the amusing hand-holding moment, with Ricciardo trying to make it awkward for Norris only for the latter to enjoy it.

It gets funny when we touch hands,” Ricciardo said to which Norris replied, “I like it.

Finally, Ricciardo got back on track and continued with the thank-you message for the fans. “Maybe, we like it too much. Anyways, we just want to say thanks. We’re delirious but, thanks for your support,” Ricciardo concluded.

Overall, it was indeed a quiet start to 2021 for the two naturally funny drivers. But, following the summer break, Norris and Ricciardo bonded quite drastically, and here they stand almost replicating the Norris-Sainz bromance. So, are we in for more such off-track content from the two McLaren drivers?
