Fernando Alonso chooses his teammate’s win over his results

Alonso is a 2-time world champion, and his return to the Formula One grid for the 2021 season produced a lot of expectations. Even though the Spaniard driver did manage to get some good results for the team, he chooses Ocon’s win at the Hungarian Grand Prix over his own results.

He said, “So my top three moments are, first Esteban’s win. I know it wasn’t my win but it still felt like an amazing moment for the team. Everyone was so happy, and I was so proud of everyone in Alpine. So the win in Hungary.”

“Second, has to be my podium in Qatar I have been waiting so long for that podium so that will be my second best moment. And third, I will say that it was Bahrain. The first race felt very emotional to me coming back to the sport with the team, some extra pressure because a lot of eyes were on us so that first race so it was very special Bahrain as well. So those are my top three.”

“Number two, Qatar, Fernando’s podium, Fernando back in the top three, third and fifth as well. I got fifth the moment that we got the points over AlphaTauri which was quite a big thing for 2021. And I would say number three Saudi Arabia you know frustrated one, frustration I would like to be even you know top one even better than the win. But we didn’t manage it and we got overtaken at the last lap but still, it was a mega race. Mega choices by the whole team, but we managed to climb up the field like we did and we got P4. So that would be my top three of 2021.”
