Getting back to Formula 1 after a much-needed summer break did not go as planned for Lewis Hamilton. The Brit crashed with Fernando Alonso in the opening lap of the Belgian GP. The former two-time world champion did not appreciate the overtaking maneuver as Hamilton went airborne because of the collision.

Soon after the collision, the furious Spaniard made his feelings known on the team radio. Fernando Alonso expressed his frustration, which, as always, was broadcasted to the world. The Alpine man blasted Lewis Hamilton and said, “What an idiot. — This guy only knows how to drive and start in first.”

Lewis Hamilton, after the race, took full responsibility for causing the collision that ended his race early on.

The Mercedes man apologized to his team and fans through Instagram for the mistake that cost him the race. The Brit wasn’t aware of Alonso’s comments. However, the seven-time world champion paid little heed to it during a post-race interview and shrugged Alonso’s comments with a simple, “I don’t care.”

Aware of the anguish, he must’ve caused the Alpine man because of his mistake Hamilton was apologetic. However, he decided not to apologize in person but found an alternative instead. The Mercedes man signed an official Mercedes cap “to Fernando,” which he showcased on his latest Instagram post.
