In the recent past, if we think about all the drivers that have been dealt with a bad hand by their teams, Carlos Sainz pops up real quickly in our minds. At Red Bull, he was essentially forced to go even before he could show his true potential with the A-team. Then, at Renault, he was sidelined within a year for the incoming Daniel Ricciardo. In other words, even though he has always been a strong performer, he’s never been considered to be a world-beater. Unfortunately, at Ferrari, he’s being treated the same way as evidenced by a shocking Lewis Hamilton confession.
For many, Charles Leclerc is a future world champion. Arguably, he’s one of the most highly regarded talents in the F1 paddock today. In 2023, Sainz has been matching the Monegasque for performance and pace pretty much. That being said, it still isn’t enough to please the powers that be at Ferrari.
#F1: Fred Vasseur on Lewis Hamilton: “I don't want to compare him to our drivers, it wouldn't make sense. But the contribution of a top driver is not just about driving, it's also technical, about strategy, about helping to hire an engineer.”

While responding to Lewis Hamilton and the short saga they wrote before the Brit has reportedly chose to re-sign with Mercedes, Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur was quoted as saying to Gazzetta dello Sport, “I don’t want to compare him [Lewis Hamilton] to our drivers, it wouldn’t make sense. But the contribution of a top driver is not just about driving, it’s also technical, about strategy, about helping to hire an engineer. And in this case if you have Hamilton, [Max] Verstappen but also [Charles] Leclerc it’s easier.”
Naturally, this apparent Sainz snub didn’t go unnoticed by the fans!
Fans react as Ferrari blatantly disregard Carlos Sainz
It would appear that Sainz, despite his strong performances, has been discarded and relegated to the position of a second driver by the Scuderia. And Vasseur confirming this out in the open sent the fans into a frenzy.
As soon as these comments went viral, fans rushed to the social networking site, Twitter to share their reactions. One fan even commented, “Violation for Sainz.”
Let’s take a look at just a few of the fan reactions to this underhanded Carlos Sainz snub.
