The high intense qualifying session has been red-flagged due to Lando Norris’ horrific crash at a rain-soaked Spa. The McLaren driver was trying to set the fastest lap in Q3, but as he headed up Eau Rouge, he lost control, hit the barrier, and spun.
However, fans and the Woking-based outfit can breathe as Norris was unhurt. But, the 21-year-old will be disappointed not to get the result he wanted. Nevertheless, McLaren is grateful that Lando walked out of the wreckage unharmed.

The 21-year-old was hoping to set the fastest lap and get his first pole position in Formula One. However, as the rain got heavier, it became more difficult for him to get the most out of the car.
As Norris was zipping around Spa and headed towards Eau Rouge, he lost control and hit the barrier. The McLaren took severe damage, destroying the backend of the car. However, Norris was unharmed, which gave McLaren the entire fan base of F1 a great relief.

Furthermore, Sebastian Vettel was just behind Norris and even slowed down to check whether the Briton was okay. Seeing this gesture from the four-time world champion won the hearts of many F1 fans.

How will this impact Norris’s weekend?

Norris started the weekend with the eighth fastest lap on the timesheet in the FP1 on Friday. However, it went downhill from there, as the McLaren driver fell down to ninth in the second practice session of the day.
But, in FP3 on Saturday, Norris stepped up his game, as he came fourth fastest. He was hoping to carry this momentum into the qualifying session later in the day, and aimed to get a good start for Sunday’s race.

Lando managed to get into Q3, and was optimistic of get a good position for the Belgian Grand Prix. However, ten minutes into Q3, he crashed, which wrecked his car, and red-flagged the session. He will be hoping to redeem himself in tomorrow’s race.
