As the 2023 season approaches, Fernando Alonso readies himself for a highly responsible role at Aston Martin. Though his designation would just be that of a driver, there will be many more things resting upon his shoulders as he brings over two decades of experience, which also made him a perfect replacement for now-retired Sebastian Vettel, who was also brought in with the same intention.

Fernando Alonso has been extremely optimistic ahead of the season, expecting the team to deliver a strong car—a pressure that team boss Mike Krack has also acknowledged. But the Spaniard is not all just words, as he knows how to get things going with an underdog side.

Alonso, a two-time champion himself, offers advice to the team while speaking with the Undercut section of his team. As quoted by Aston Martin’s website, when asked “What does the team need to do win the Formula One World Championship?”, the Spaniard answered, “We have to use our ingenuity and be creative in everything we do. You have to reinvent yourself every season, every race, to try to outperform your competitors–this is the biggest challenge for any F1 team.”

Fernando is going to act like nothing short of a guardian for the team. The team’s hopes rest on him, and he knows that very well; thus, he’s giving it all for them.

Alonso’s move from 2022 P4 finisher Alpine to a struggling P7 Aston Martin was termed a “classic” Fernando move. And while the outsiders saw it as a blunder, the driver himself believes in the project and hopes the team will work exceptionally well.

When asked in the same interview why he chose to move, he said, “Aston Martin F1 is taking the necessary steps to win in the near future. The team is determined to become a championship contender and will do whatever it takes to get there. This ambition is appealing to any racing driver. You see all the investment, the new factory, the talent joining the team, and you want to be part of it.”
